Signal Centers is looking for a Special Education Support Paraprofessional to work with children in our PRESCHOOL AGE CLASSROOMS and support those with special needs. This position can be full-time or part-time, Monday - Friday. Our center is open between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm.


Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High school Diploma/GED.
  • Must have at least one-year experience working with children 6 wks - 5 yrs old in a professional childcare setting.
  • Experience working with children or adults with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing rules is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to obtain a CDA (Child Dev. Associate) Certificate is highly desirable for advancement opportunities.
  • Will be required to get TBI Fingerprinting and a health screening with TB skin test completed.

Responsibilities
:
  • Follow positive discipline procedures as directed.
  • Primarily responsible for following the TN Diapering process for those students not toilet trained.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining mealtime health practices by prepping and cleaning tables and supplies for breakfast and lunch.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining weekly and/or daily rest-time laundry.
  • Primarily responsible for prepping soap/water cleaning solution when needed and fill sanitizing/disinfecting bleach water solution at the end of shift each day for the following day.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, toys, and materials in a clean, safe, organized, and accessible order.
  • Assist in preparing supplies/materials.
  • Actively participate in daily activities that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Observe children for signs of illness\sickness.
  • Treat children, parents, and staff with respect.
  • Maintain a harmonious working relationship.
  • Refer parent questions, comments and/or concerns to the Lead Teacher, Coordinator, or Director/Asst. Director as needed.
  • Follow confidentiality standards regarding students and their families.
  • Quickly respond to personal needs of children.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Coordinator, or Director/Asst. Director.
  • Participates in at least 42 hours of continuing education annually.
